GSMGuy Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Jeff, sounds like the blower motor could be seized - try going in to output test (whilst in module 18, Aux heatrer) and then it will cycle through Combustion blower, and metering pump - you should hear both working. I had the same faul on my HVAC, cleared it when I got the car, and it has not returned - I think it is related to the air distribution flap - as have found that if, after I start the car, I move it to the dash vents only position for a couple of seconds, and then to wherever I want - footwell etc - It works much better than just leaving it set there - I think it repositions itself every time you start.. Give it a go, solved my problem of cold feet!! Mike Quote
Jeff115 Posted March 6, 2005 Author Report Posted March 6, 2005 Hi Mike, Thanks a lot, will do some further investigation when I get time :( I achieved my brief sojourn yesterday while my energetic 2 yer-old was having a nap. I did'nt get as far as the Output Tests. Do I need a Login Code to perform the Output tests and if so where do I get one? Thanks again,Jeff. Quote
Jeff115 Posted March 12, 2005 Author Report Posted March 12, 2005 Hi, I did some more tests using VAG-COM on car today and Fault Codes01414 - Combustion-Air Blower (V6)16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications by 5 times (obviously not getting a response from this part for 5 attempts) Output tests:1. Combustion-Air Blower(V6) Quote
GSMGuy Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Jeff, the main blower can be seen in this pic I took when replacing my glow plug,http://img138.exs.cx/img138/6349/dsc022944tn.jpg The impellar is the brown thing on top of the unit, and you can just see the motor below - I'd be seriously tempted to strip it and make sure it isn't just jammed by a bit of debris, or seized through lack of use, in which case, giving it a good soak of WD40 and a bit of a gentle twist may just help... nothing to lose and all that! Danny Boy Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Hi Has anyone got abreakdown of what the codes mean please that could possibly be e-mailed to me?? Cheers If you can pm me i'll give you my e-mail address Cheers <_< :D Quote
Jeff115 Posted March 12, 2005 Author Report Posted March 12, 2005 Sorry D-B I'd say they're on TIS or ERWin but I don't have either. Anyone else?I'd apprecaite the codes too :D Mike,Thanks a lot, I'm going to tackle the dealer again next week for booster and gearbox problems under warranty. Fe*ker drives me scatty as is 5 hour round-trip before and after work to leave it there :D He's had it twice for the booster without joy - I'm still waiting for him to get back to me after last visit! He said the gearbox was fine i.e. does not want to know, but I know there's a scrunch going up into third unless eased in If outside warranty I'd take booster apart w/out a doubt as blower probably stuck or bushes gone. Same with gearbox - I'd add ATF if it was outside warranty. Later,Jeff. Quote
