Got a problem with the wipers on my Focus. its a 53 plate zetec 1.6 estate.

Recently the single wipe (when you press the stick down once for a single wipe) has not been working properly.

When you press down the wipers move, but when you release they stop mid screen.

It has been driving me mad.

Could it be a relay? or is it a more severe problem.

Is this a common fault?

Any comments would be appreciated. :P

Park switch is not working - they have a contact/switch in the motor assy to tell them when the arm is in the park position, and turn off the motor - if it is not parking, this is the only thing it can really be..

Hi all....

with regard to this problem with the park switch, is it a simple enough DIY job as my car is well out of warranty, so thought i would tackle it myself if it's not too bad a job. ....? would appreciate any help

Hi

I had a similar problem on my wife's 2002 focus and thought it was a fault in the wiper motor.

When you did the one wipe it stopped when you let go and when you turned them off they stopped where they were.

It was a relay that was the problem.

I asked at the parts desk and the guy suggested it was the relay and now all fixed for about 12 pounds.
