ridway Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 I have a small family business that install air conditioning systems in offices and other buildings as well as re-gassing and repair of car and lorry systems. I would like to tell everyone a tale of one of my customers, a Galaxy owner, and his experience when he took his MPV to the main dealer. To keep the story short he took his car to the Ford agent to ask if they could identify the fault with his Galaxy climate control; it had stopped working. Collecting the vehicle later in the day he was presented with a bill for Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 Dealers are expected to work on every aspect of a wide range of vehicles. Clearly this is somewhat impractical. The entire philosophy of one garage having a wide range of skill sets, tooling and experience to cover mechanical, electrical, electronic, body, air-con etc is wholly outdated. The way these places appear to work is still based on the days when "Motor Cars" were technical infants. Where dealers screw up is not knowing when to sub-contract specialist work to skilled and experienced third-parties. What really makes this worse is their charging massive rates for mis-diagnoses and indeed what amounts to criminal damage on occasion. In the case of Ford dealers and the Galaxy, they are attempting to diagnose and remedy another manufacturers' design - the hideous results of which are widely reported within this forum. And not that Ford are alone, it's just they really couldn't give a monkeys. SEAT dealers are not necessarily any better - not sure if anyone has noticed, but most of their dealers' premises are untidy and in partial decay, particularly the "dirty end". I strongly suspect that their staff are left overs from Royston Vasey too. Quote

Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 See my tale of woe which seems to start from a small hole in the condenser. This is apparently not an isolated case (although it's quite rare) - could be that you have a hole somewhere in which case get it investgated quick before you need a new compressor (at about Quote
