Scorpiorefugee Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 I cleaned my MAF about 6 months ago and it seemed better and I currently have no real complaints apart from a bit of a dead spot at around 3000rpm at full throttle. However, I still suspectct that it's not as it should be because the difference with/without is not that great. I finally decided to lash out and try a new one, only to find that the Ebay shop recommended has been "Closed down". I suppose that I could thrash around to find somewhere else but first, a couple of questions. Has anyone got recent experience of a good deal? Has anyone tried to get some reference output voltages for a known good MAF under set conditions like no load 1000, 2000, 3000 rpm? This could well be a deciding factor in going for replacement and I was going to try this on mine and may still do that but there doesn't seem much point until I have a known good one and it still may be confusing beacuse it would have to depend on everything else being fully functional. tiny Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 It isnt that the Ebay shop has been "Closed down", simply that this is an old thread and that link to an Ebay item went back to March 1 2005! Ebay listings are only shown for 90 days after they have finished. Quote
mumof4 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Aye..very true..The guy i got mine off is still trading..and is very good...i pounded him with questions before i bought one off him!! Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Thanks Supermum, sorry, Mumof4. Please forgive the creeping senility. I shall persue this now before I forget what it was I wanted it for. Quote

mumof4 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Aye Bigj..was thinking of you hun when i looked at the dipstick!  Quote
mumof4 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Yes..i was looking at the dipstick and the hole it came out of and i thought to myself.."how the hell am i supposed to get the oil down that hole?!" Now what would Bigj do i thought... <_< . So i got a funnel and shoved it in the hole and poured the oil in.As i knew that was how you would do it! ;) And again..i thought of you as i put the dipstick back in the hole where it came from. :D Quote
mumof4 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Subliminal messages???..Hmm....nooooooo...as if........ Dont think there are any double entendres <_< Just your mind playing up again i think! ;) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 I hope there are no subliminal messages in all this mumof4? :o It all seems to be full of double entendres!! All I noticed was BigJ and dipstick used repeatedly in the same sentence! :) Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Sorry to interrupt all this fun and games but I need help. Boy, do I need help! (I thought I'd say it first) :D I'm having trouble identifying which MAF I need. The Ebay sites seem to work on a limited range of part no's, none of which match mine. The old gal is a Nov '98 GLX - Engine No.WR79992. I can't find or read anything else that may help. Mine has a Bosch part F 00C 2G2 027 on the insert bit and another number, Ford(?) PBT - GF30 ? on the main moulding and insert. I can see no reason why it should not be a standard part so can anyone please give me some guidance? Quote
mumof4 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 To get the correct part number you need to take the old maf out as the part number is actually underneath it, on the underside. this guy on ebay could help. id..sbb7777. he helped me and he was the guy i got mine off. There are diff types of MAF...for diff engines. Quote
mumof4 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Mind..i didnt take mine out..i tild him what car i had and he recommended one for my car...when it arrived it had the same part number.... Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 i phoned two ford dealers for the information - they took the cars details, and give me the answer - funny - as the two dealers give me different answers!!!! so i questioned one of the dealers, who later realised he was wrong :D i got mine for (i think) Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 lol mine was Bosch - even tho they also had another make available. i just picked mine up on the way home, so does that count as free delivery? MATT Quote
