mattux Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 My 1996 Galaxy appears to have a trip computer in that it has until now given me a range reading (very low !!). I did not know if this meant I had a trip computer or not but I certainly do not have the controls i.e. the button on the end of the column wiper stick. Yesterday I had a flat battery and now the display shows me only the journey time which is less than useful. I have no idea how to get the range measure back without the controls. I think the previous owner was perplexed by this problem as I have an invoice that notes the need to find the trip computer control. I do not know what the outcome was however. Can anyone help please ? Thanks Quote
Andrew T Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Sounds like you have the computer without the control stalk. Perhaps a previous owner had a broken stalk and elected (on cost grounds?) to replace it with a stalk off a lower spec variant. If you don't want to fit a new stalk try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery until your chosen information comes up, as it seems as though the computer is cycling through its range of functions each time you do this. johnb80 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 The trip computer can be enabled with VAGCOM, it would seem that yours has been enabled but the switches not fitted. Do a search for what can you do with vagcom. Regards - John Quote
