Guest tubbylardo Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The CD player and tape deck have given up. I have removed both and installed a Kenwood KRC-391. But the car is fitted with an internal amplifier and the new stereo won't work. I have used a PC9-402 smartlead from Halfords and the new radio lights up and works but there is no sound. Have I got the right connector? Has anyone come across this problem before and if so what is the way around it? Please help. tubbylardo@btopenworld.com Quote
Guest MyPerfectVehicle Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 hi,the easiest way is to trace the wires back from the speakers and cut them, for a direct connection to the radio. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 or just get the correct lead for the job to be sure there are no problems later if you need to change the radio again Quote
Guest tubbylardo Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Thanks for the help. Am looking at finding the right leads first. If I can't then I'll connect the speakers direct. Does anyone know where the amplifier is? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 click the link in the post above and there it is  Quote
galaxychap Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 That might be true but as vr6 says when you later try to fit the ford unit back in it creates problems i know as i have done that on my previous ford granada far better to get the right lead and know that all the connections are perfect Quote
