Honest John Honest John reckons that water can get into the Galaxy 'through the ventilation' on early models but doesn't define early. Any idea when this was fixed and how bad it really was. For example was problem caused by parking on a slope? (Like I will be)

Also apparently water gets into the wiper motors??? Again how common is this and on what model is it fixed?

Thanks for any help.

All models can suffer from water ingress through the ventilation system! if you allow the water level to build up!

a fix! was applied in 98 IIRC when foam pads were stuck in the corners of the scuttle over the drains to filter out the crap that blocked the drains, also a splash guard was fitted to the pollen filter housing in an attempt to hold back the water!

as for the wiper motors well that still happens just look back over the last few days on here to see that!

As usual HJ takes a little knowledge and .....

Three faults affect all Galaxies irregardless of age...in order of likelyhood...

1. The water supply pipe to the rear washer comes apart in the passenger footwell.

2. Scuttle drains in the corners of the engine bulkehead get blocked with rubbish and water can then rise to the point it gets in through the "ventilation system"

3. The windscreen seals (and sometime engine bulkhead seams/seals) can leak allowing water.

The "fix" that VR6galaxy refers to was a short term attempt that caused more problem than it fixed.....

But it was better than the first idea they had that involved a 4'' hole saw :)

As all three models are built on the same platform the majority of the problems are shared! this one included ;)
