Guest chapi Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hi, Can someone give me some advice. I need a more family "friendly" car and am looking at the: Mitsubishi Grandis (04)807 (04 or 54)or an 03 Galaxy TDi Ghia fully loaded (except my ideal leather seats) The mileage of all of these is < 10K and all the prices are Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 You're going to drive them, not us. Take each for a drive and see which you prefer. The 807 is possibly going to suffer electrical glitches, particularly if it has the powered sliding doors. The Galaxy will probably suffer from aircon system faults in due course. The Grandis is Japanese so is bland but will probably run for ever; it will need infrequent spares, but they will be exhorbitantly priced on the few occasions when you need to buy them..... How long are you planning to keep the car for? How many miles per year are you expecting to do, and on long or short journeys? Quote
seatkid Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I drove a Comma van for a while (2 stroke diesel...) Quote
Guest mattkaye Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I went through a similar dilema... but went for the Galaxy. The peugeot has the dashboard in the centre of the car, something I disliked as you have to look away to see your speed (plus the dials were an awful colour so were difficult to read)The mitsubish is a great car, but as previously mentioned if they do go wrong the spares are v. expensive. The Galaxy was the car I chose.... although I nearly went for the Seat Alhambra which is really the same vehicle with a Seat interior. Ivor has it right.. you have to drive each car and go with what best suits you. Quote
Dave-G Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 :o I passed my driving test in a commer van  Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I passed my mechanics badge at boy scouts on a GPO Commer van. Was a 4T though. Quote
Guest chapi Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks guys, Just been out verdict is: 807 - hate the central dials Grandis - Lovely, but not enough room in the back for 3 child seats Galaxy - Very nice, and the wife likes it too! paulmpaciorek Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 IvorCan you write me a bit of a review or better still paste me a link about the Tomtom sat nav system as a collegue of mine is buying a Touran and wants a sat nav system for it. Cheer mate ..and if anyone else wants to recommend a system please feel free !!!! Paul Quote
markie Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Agree with Ivor - TomTom Go is the way to go for Sat Nav. Have one in my alhambra, you can input speed camera database into it and comes with better maps and is much cheaper than original sat nav, which isn't as good: Click on the link below to see how I installed one into the vehicle: TomTom Go Installation Quote
