Hi,

I've just bought a 96 N Galaxy 2.8 V6 and have a few queries......

It doesn't have roof bars. Can you buy, fit roof bars? If so, how hard are they to do?

What sort of Ford alloy fit the galaxy?? ie Mondeo, cougar etc???

Also, what sort of styling is available for the Galaxy?? I'm still a boy racer at heart and fancy trying to make the Galaxy look a bit different without having to spend too much cash!!

Any help or tips you have would be gratfully recieved.

The car is a VW, so only Ford alloys for the Galaxy will fit. Other than that you can use VW alloys and some SEAT ones too. If you make sure the PCD and offset are right then you won't go wrong.

There are lots of stying/performance goods about for the car, do a search on Google, don't forget to search on Volkswagon Sharan too though!

PCD 5x112 ET 35, there are plenty of wheels that will fit from Merc SLK, CL, E and S classe rims, AUDI A4,6,8, S2,4,6 plenty of the VW range and loads of after market rims

as for the roof bars take a look on Ebay there are a couple of sets on there at the moment

body kits, take a look through this section of the forum there are a few links posted in it

Many thanks for info all.

I managed to find out PCD and offset today, am now contemplating a set of alloys off an Audi S4.

I've been told by a friend at Yokohama that the tyres fitted to the Galaxy are re-inforced to accomodate carrying extra passengers. Has anyone else heard this?? It may pose a problem when getting tyres for new rims??

How do the roof bars fix?? Is it a case of removing the head lining??

Cheers

Sorry, In my confusion, when I've said "roof bars" I've meant the roof rails that some have fitted as standard!!!

I'm sure you all knew that though!!!!!

The standard profile tyres are re-enforced, don't know about the low profiles though. Yokahama A539s have a very stiff tyrewall anyway.

If you replace the rims, don't you have to make sure the new rims are the same weight as the old ones? Otherwise the suspension might not be properly suited to them. Just a thought - I know nothing about this, though I'd like to know more.

;) there is a set of roof rails on E-Bay at the moment- item no 4528176201, i don't know how much Ford are charging but these should be cheaper. As for the fitting of the rails, i should think the headlining will have to come out which could be a tricky job

Fitting roof rails has been covered before - it can be done, is quite simple but takes ages as much work is involved including taking down the headlining and most of the interior trim panels. The rubber strips in the roof will need cutting with a sharp knife, and you need a good sharp drill (and courage) to make the holes in the roof.
