Guest Carl-B Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 HiMy cruise control on my 2.3 P plate went offline last year. My car didnt 'show' any faults - it just didnt work. Investigations showed that a pipe had perished which runs from inside the inner wings of the car.It my pay you to have a quick look at that too.Hope this helps you a bit! :P Carl-B Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The cruise control on TDI's is a fly by wire system, so no vacuum pump or pipes to be checked! is the same fault still showing up after you replaced the engine speed control sensor? if so I would check the wiring to it? if you can follow it back check it for continuity? IIRC on some models there are two switches on the brake pedal? if so have you checked them both? Quote
rushy Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hi all. I've just bought a 96 N reg Galaxy 2.8 V6 GLX and am trying to get to grips with the various bits on it. I also can't seem to get the CC to work. I've read the manual and done what it says with regards putting the switch to "on" and pressing "set" when at the desired speed, but it doesn't work. Is there a reset button, or do I trace wires etc as mentioned earlier?? Many thanks Quote
dipsomaniac Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 After switching cruise control to the on position, you press the set button at the end of the stalk at the desired speed (over 30mph), it takes a second or two to work - and initially speed may drop before increasing to the speed set when the button was pressed. That is what should happen if things are working OK. If it is still not working check the vacuum pipes connected to the cc pump behind the nearside indicator. It is common for them to become disconnected or perished. If they are OK, check the switches on top of the brake/clutch peddle. Quote
