Andrew T Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 There is a lot of conflicting information on this but ultimately it comes down to complying with the manufacturers specifications, or negotiating any deviation from that spec with your insurers. What does your handbook state? The Tyre pressures list on the inside of our (MK2) fuel filler flap lists three different 16" tyres as "RF" but not for the 15" sizes. Our office Has two Sharans, a TDI on 16" Reinforced and a new 2.0 on 16" non-reinforced. Confused ? Maybe the original spec is defined by the Kerbweight. Quote
Davetheref Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I thought the main idea for having reinforced tyres was for safety, carrying heavy loads etc.I must admit that I feel safer knowing they are reinforced and surely it doesn't affect other aspects of handling or does it?? I guess I'll get someone on here now telling me I'm talking out of my a**e. Quote
Guest ratherhaveanewone Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I believe its all down to the weight of the car, so whatever model (the all weigh the same) the tyres should be reinforced. If you want to save a few quid don't do it on tyres ! Quote
