Xenonman Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Like I said, I live in germany, the amount of new galaxys over here is unreal, we get them at rock bottom prices from uk tax free dealers, export them over here, for 6 months or 12 then take them back to uk and sell them at tax paid prices to get another. A 115 ghia with metallic paint, standard car would be around Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Time to start a separate thread on "what would you like imported from Germany?" where those after a "new-used" Gal could post wants, and those in the Forces could post details of their forthcoming vehicles for sale.Any thoughts, Kevin ? (or could this be interpreted as a plot do do the exchequer out of revenue?) Quote
Guest mick Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 I agree with the prices from CD Bramell (Welwyn) via German sources. I presently live in Holland where BWT (VAT equiv) is 19% and 'Luxury tax' on motors is 43%. I was able to buy a new UK spec 130Tdi Ghia with extras for less than 14k stg. Unfortunately, I cannot export the vehicle back out of Holland after 6 months as Xenonman - only when I permanenty leave the area. But he's right about the number of Gal's around. I was at one area in Germany (Rhein d) last week and counted a dozen RHD 03 and 53 reg Gal's in one car park. The rest of the cars were BMW X5's, Mercs etc!! Xenonman, do CD Bramell do the buy-back scheme, or do you sell private? Good idea Ivor_E..... look in any of the forces rags which can be bought from larger newsagents, and I'm sure garages will advertise their tax-free wares there, and these are probably OK for the secondhand ex Germany cars also. If nothing else, it gives an idea of prices / specs avail. One other point - nothing but praise for CD Bramell. Immaculately prepared car, full brief on controls etc, no rush to get rid. Beat Swain & Jones (Rover), Farnham hands down. Quote
Xenonman Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Well Mick I haven't sold any fords to CD Bramhall as of yet but they do a buyback on the Galaxy. As far as i know it is a good deal, a few lads have done this for years now and their Galaxy's are now paid for just with the buyback on them. There are tax free dealers in UK that we sell back to but i'm sure i'd get a better deal selling private, better for the seller & the buyer. I don't get ripped off at trade in value and the buyer doesn't pay dealer prices, cutting out the middle man is a good move as far as im concerned, I bet we would both save a grand each without a dealer. Guest Fred Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Time to start a separate thread on "what would you like imported from Germany?" where those after a "new-used" Gal could post wants, and those in the Forces could post details of their forthcoming vehicles for sale. Xenonman is correct that there are many Galaxy's over here in Germany, but the majority of folk are selling after 12/13 months. Or rather, they are handing over the keys and picking up a new car, in some cases with a slight upgrade. Serviceman happy, dealer very happy, because he gets a car in good condition which he then sells on for a huge profit. I joined this forum because I wanted to look for ways to sell my Galaxy that did not involve simply handing it over in part exchange. Does anybody know of a dealer who would be interested in the straight purchase of a 12/13 month old Galaxy? Fred Quote
