Guest Seth Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I was after a 1/9TDI Ghia. The cheapest quotes I have so far are Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 If I'd had an extra 3 grand, I would have bought from Eurocars Epsom. They are family-owned and part of Wilsons of Epsom Group. They are about 40 minutes' drive from where I live. (I also had a previous car re-rustproofed by Wilsons - remember Tuffcote Dinol?).If you really want the versatility pack, I don't know if Eurocars can order a vehicle with one fitted, but from enquiries I have made trying to get the net alone, it's horrendously expensive even if you can find a dealer willing to order the bits. Guest Seth Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 I was after the tonneau cover to cover the space where the rear seats when travelling with luggage the other stuff in the kit was not essential. I've emailled some supplier's to check on prices with and without the car. Quote
Guest Seth Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Eurocars Epsom only import batches of car of the same type. Currently this limits the choice to Galaxy Zetec 1.9 TDi 115ps as my closest fit. No options are specified so you get the stock build. As I'm after a Ghia 1.9 TDI with the tonneau cover and 130 ps they can't help me. From what I've read and heard they are a very reputable outfit. asimons Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 If you really want the tonneau cover I'd go for a supplier who will order the vehicle with this option from the factory - it's Quote
Guest Seth Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I also asked http://www.fordbrugge.com/export.htm for a quote no reply by email so I called them. They quoted me 27k Euro + 630Euro for having it delivered to the UK. Total at todays rate Quote
Sher Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Fordbrugge are no longer as competitive as they once seemed to be. They may be making more money in their tie up with their UK deliverer of Cars. We bought a Puma some 4 years ago cheaper than Tradesales at Slough and Motorpoint Derby could do then .Last Sept Motorpoint were over 1000PSt cheaper than Fordbrugge and I would have had to wait. One point though, do GB supplied 1.9TDi Gal Ghia's all come with Multifunction steering wheels and some other goodies I can't remember? I remember trying out Ford's own web site with a special offer at 19600PSt and when I had finished adding in what was standard on the imported car, the price was over 21000BPs.Second point no problem with 2 year warranties from Belgium (std on all Fords in Belge) The VIN number seems to be used in conjuction with Some Oasis(?) software on the TIS CDRom. 18000 miles in and still having it fixed in UK under warranty. You might search for a car importer/ supplier Called CPC somewhere south of London I apparently caused, so Ford's of Windsor , Cheshire them some embarrassment when I found the British source of a Galaxy on their Patch.CPC seemed happy to comm with me provided I didn't 'mess' him about. They may have one to hand. Tonneau cover worked out fitted at 180PSt I have a friend who is a Ford UK mechanic. He's called Ford too!!! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 UK spec Ghia's do not come with multifunction steering wheel as standard - it's Quote
Guest Kevin Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Our Galaxy Zetec 115 pd bought new in September 2000 was repurchased by Ford in the following January because of the design fault on the seats and many other problems we had with the car. They would not have refunded our money if the car had of been an import. I did consider importing one from Belgium, but I was only going to save Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 (edited) Kevin - my Gal reg in Jan2001 was manufactured in Oct2000. The rear 2 seats do fold up - you have to slide them as far back as possible on their runners, then slide all the middle seats as far forwards as they can go. The 2 rearmost seats then fold up OK, although they make contact with the middle row seats which leaves some impressions of the catches etc in the material. Did you have worse problems than this with the seats?Ivor. From Kevin: Because Ford (and Volkswagen as we tried a new Sharan after Ford gave us back our money) increased the thickness of the foam on the seats on model 2000 Galaxy's, when the rearmost 2 were folded over and tumbled upright, even with the centre seats as far forward as they would go, it was extremely tight. You could 'ram' them into position, but the plastic trim got damaged and came off. As on your car, the seats would also leave an 'impression' on each other. Also the plastic covers on metal levers would be knocked off leaving the sharp metal exsposed, which ripped the seat material on the seats in front. If you didn't have them 'rammed' into position they would fall back under hard acceleration and the sharp spikes that fit the floor track would impale themselves on our two Labradors. The seats were too heavy and awkward for my wife to remove and what is the point of buying a 7 seater car if you have to leave the two rear seats in the garage all of the time and have great trouble re-fitting them on the odd occasion you did have 7 passengers? In February 2001 Ford had a meeting with VW and SEAT to resolve the problem but it appears that early model 2000 vehicles were not modified retrospectively. We had a load of other problems too with our Galaxy...engine cutting out, poor headlight beam, rattles, windscreen wipers packed up Edited July 29, 2003 by Kevin Quote

Xenonman Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Honest not a wind up, just the advantage of being in Germany with HM Forces,Oh not certain but with the tuning box it must push 150 to 160 BHP and why not put the box on a new not run in 130, its totaly within the limits of the engine!! I only bought it to sell at a profit in 6 months, what do i care. Quote
Sher Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 What I can't understand is why is it looks so expensive? The Tax(VAT?) equivalent in Germany is 16%( yes we pay more than the Germans!). I beleive that as an HM service person you pay no local taxes on the car and after 6 months you can import back to the UK and Pay no Vat? Quote
iainkirk Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 You won't get a 130 Ghia import for under abpout Quote
