Guest bandekk Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I've finally fitted my DVD (Sony MV101) player to the car and now need to sort out the sound options as I've fitted sony screens that need I/R headphones. I will be buying some headphones, but have been told that I can fit a FM Modulator to my system that will allow the DVD sound to be played via a radio channel. I have looked the my Ford 5000 stereo and I have one spare connector on the back, can anyone give me any guidance on trying to hook up an FM modulator to this stereo when I have a CD changer also fitted as I've been told it may not be possible. thanks Quote
johnb80 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 An FM modulator will plug into the antenna socket and the cable from the antenna will plug into the modulator. You then tune a station to the modulator and thats it, you will have DVD sound. Regards - John Quote
Guest bandekk Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 thanks, just spotted this at Maplin..... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...orldID=&doy=7m2 think it should sort things.... cheers Quote
Dave-G Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I found that a modulator only seemed viable if there is uninterrupted audio, which has been "recorded loud" so to speak. Any breaks in audio,or quiter periods are accompanied by atmospherics and an alternator whine if the volume is turned up. The Component I had fitted to make the "audio out" of my dvd player acceptable is located in behind the head unit, and "interupts" the feed from the cd autochanger. A 3 way switch is used to select:dvd player,cd changer, or head unit, and a cd has to be playing (in the autochanger but not heard) possibly to make the amplifier work? Unfortunatly I dont know what it's called :) Quote
Davetheref Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Why not have an external modulator that plugs directly into any headphone socket to save messing about with wires, connections etc.I have one that I got from radio shack and it works a treat with no noticiable interference when I'm using it. It runs from either 2 aa batteries or can be plugged into the ciggie lighter. Quote
