djacks42 Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Hi - I get stalling when approaching juctions dropping from 3rd to 2nd usually. Rev's die off and don't pick up sometimes. No hunting of revs. Just had a good ferret round and can't see anything obvious. The ICV has been cleaned out also. Anyone want to suggest a checklist.. SPARKS, HT LEADS,RELAYS (which ones?) MAF??, LAMBDA sensor?? Help Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Just had a good ferret round..... Ferrets are notoriously bad at fault-finding; they tend to gnaw through electric cables too, which may be your problem..... :) Quote
djacks42 Posted February 5, 2005 Author Report Posted February 5, 2005 No ferrets - but it would give me an excuse to off the neighbour's cat. I've just taken the van out for a spin with the MAF unplugged - still stalls reliably.. braking, clutch down in 3-to-2 changes approaching roundabouts. What to check next - help!! Got to hand the motor back to the missus next week as she goes on maternity leave.. don't think she'll cope with the emergency ignition twists. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 There is a post elsewhere on the forum about a similar problem, IIRC the problem was traced to a faulty PCM, IIRC there was a problem with these, some could be reprogrammed but other's had to be replaced! PCM's with the part numbers 95VW 12A650 HA, 95VW 12A650 HB or 95VW 12A650 HC have to be replaced and those with 95VW 12A650 HD or 95VW 12A650 HE can be reprogramed the PCM is up under the dash behind the speedo, it's a bit of a pig to get out as its bolted in place but it can be got at and possibly the part number can be read with it in place Quote
djacks42 Posted February 7, 2005 Author Report Posted February 7, 2005 According to the dealer, my van has an Quote
djacks42 Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 Okay - quick update... Having solved a hanging-revs problem last year with a squirt of WD40 in the ICV, I gave it a another good clean out this time, and then a second time with carb cleaner which leaves no residue. Neither worked. Yesterday I replaced the valve and hey presto, jobs a good 'un. Nice, because I can return the sparks, TPS, and lambda sensor I had ready to swap out. Quote
