Guest provenjohn Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 :( HelloThe 2 12v power sockets at the rear don't work. I think that I read somewhere that they only worked when engine was running? Can't get mine to work at all & my coolbox won't keep thebeer cold!Anmy suggestions, please?ThanksJohn Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 They should work all the time, not switched through the ignition. Have you checked the fuses? Also you may need to remove some of the plastic shround on the plug on the coolbox - have you checked with a voltmeter or lamp-on-a-stick that there is power at the sockets? Quote
Guest provenjohn Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 :( HiThanks for that.Have tried testing & there is definately nothing there.Must admit, haven't looked at fuses !!! Can anyone tell me which ones to check? Thanks again John Quote
Dodger Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 On my Galaxy the fuses for the rear power sockets are under the driver's seat, not on the fuse board. There is a seperate fuse for each socket. Quote
Guest provenjohn Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Hello Found the 2 fuses hidden under drivers seat, both OK though! Still no power ! Any other suggestions please??????? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Check for power at the fuses! If none, then there's a power feed problem, if there is then there's probably a break in the loom. Quote
Dodger Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I vaguely remember reading in the handbook that there is a device which cuts power to these sockets if the volts drop, to prevent you from completely discharging the battery. I may well be wrong but perhaps this has failed? Quote
LOZ Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I have the similar problem, only one of my sockets work. I have swapped the wires from one socket to the other to see if the socket had gone but it still didn't work. Took it to my Ford dealer (oh nooo!!!) and they said they would need the car in a full day as they couldn't find a fault during the day it was already with them! And it may not be covered under warranty if they did find a fault!! This out me off altogether! :D I'll have to check my fuses as I am sure its the one that I left my fridge working overtime on and drained it so it may of shorted out! Becasuse of the problems I have with draining my battery due to using the sockets too much I bought a `jumpstart' from Argos for Quote

It depends on the year your car was made. It makes it easier if you put that information into your profile. Quote
