Guest ratherhaveanewone Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Like many more before me I find the the booster heater is kaput. Wisdom suggests that the glow plug is probably faulty. My question is whats the best way to test the thing before I order a new one ? Thanks John Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Firstly dont assume its your glow plug. I hoped it was that at fault with mine. When I plugged my Vag-com interface in I found it was not the glow plug at fault but Combustion-Air Blower (V6) 16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications. Do you have access to Vag-com? Where do you live ? Quote
Guest ratherhaveanewone Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 No access to vag-com and I'm up in Warrington, I don't mind spending an hour droping the heater and testing the glow plug though, I'm not assuming its knackered just hoping it is for an easy fix ! Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Firstly,, Here we go, here we go...... 2nd, have a look at THIS thread, I changed the plug in mine recently and it's fine now 3rd, If you are in Warrington, I'm only in Aintree and don't mind running a diagnostic for you... As Paul says, it may not be the plug! If you are interested, feel free to PM me.. Mike Quote
marinabrid Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 hi there, if you need a glow plug i got one for sale, thought mine was faulty so i got one cost nearly Quote
Guest ratherhaveanewone Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 To test glow plug, its a simple resistance test should be 0.6-0.7 ohms when good, open circuit when knackered; easy to work out what to do with an example of each on the workbench ! John Quote
