Guest sharpy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 i have a ford galaxy earth / short in the braking system which is causing the red brake warning (! ) light to appear only when i apply the brake pedal have checked the car as far as i can brake pads has no sensors and all the rest have been check out and are working also the hand brake lever is working finei have also checked for loose connections in the rear tail lights for any movement but draw a blank ok plz can someone share their veiws on it thanks sharpy Quote
yghiatdi Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 have you checked the brake fluid? it may be a little low and when you apply the brakes the piston moves enough fluid to drop below the minimum level. Quote
Guest sharpy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 yes mate tried all that electrical problem we think it is and we cant seem to find it and where to start to look for it as we have checked all the rear wires and all sound???????? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Have you tried as I suggested and removed things from the circuit to see if it helps? it could help narrow down the search! Quote
Guest sharpy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 i am going out in the car now to try it thanks will let you know in the next hour or so Quote
Guest sharpy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 hi mate well it worked i took the sensor from the fluid cap and went for a drive while braking inbetween and guess what it hasnt flickered once since i took it off so now i need to know will i have to replace the whole switch as it looks like its wires are going under the inner dash (engine side) to where i dont know. Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Hoefully its just the switch? try plugging it back in and unplugging something else in turn just to double check, if it is the switch you could try and see if its damp or dirty? give a squirt of contact cleaner or WD40 BUT! dont get any into the brake fluid! make sure you dry and clean it all off before you replace the cap Quote
Guest sharpy Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 hi all , took the car to a electrican but was unsuccessfull in finding the fault, so ive decided its time to book it in the dealers of ford for them to have this nightmare i got no choice as its still flashing away anyway thanks to all who replied sharpy Quote
Guest sharpy Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 hi folks just to let you know that we havent found the problem yet but have been told to check the sensor on the pressure regulator accumulator/ but dont know where it is or how to test it will keep you informed of the outcome in the next couple of days if it is this ty sharpy Quote
Guest sharpy Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 just had the car fixed so people take note of this fault for reference, the wire from the sensor runs under the dash a little just follow the wire carefully and there you will find wire frayed and it causes it to short out when it touches the body work of the car also there waas water in my brake fluid due to moisture all done now at a price of Quote
