Last week my gal wouldnt start, the engine turned over slowly and then just clicked! (solenoid I assume). Anyway i charged the battery for about 3 hours and at lunch time it started fine. Ihave checked the alternator which is giving 14.5v to the battery and I have had the battery tested which was also good.

I am a little confused as to why I had the flat battery, as far as i know i hadnt left anything switched on and it wasnt that cold in the morning about 2degs.

What I have noticed is that my headlights appear to become brighter after the revs go above 2500 and then dim again as the revs drop.

Does this mean i am in for some expense in a new battery or alternator shortly?

anyone have any ideas!

Cheers Ian

2000 and 2001 were not good years for new batteries! Several of us have had to change our original ones before 3 years were up. I'm well unimpressed. The original battery in my 1985 Honda lasted for about 7 years. So much for progress.

What voltage was the battery recieving when the engine was ticking over?

Ihave checked the alternator which is giving 14.5v to the battery.

When the above was done was it when the engine revs were raised?
