Jack Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Hi, Most of the time when I switch the ignition on I get an "OIL SENSOR WORKSHOP!" warning. Does anyone know what this means and should I be worried about it (which I am.) . I have not had any problems before and have only done 30K miles. And off course it's just out of warranty. ThanksJack Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I take it that you have checked the oil level.....and that the oil was changed at the last service? Quote
Jack Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 It was serviced recently and the oil level is fine, I'm thinking that this warning might be to do with low oil pressure. I have not noticed any performance or other differences since having this problem and the engine runs great, I'm just a little concerened. ThanksJack Quote
Jack Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 I should also add that I only get the warning with the ignition on and before the engine is running. Once started the warning disappears. Jack Quote
johnb80 Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I suspect that either the oil pressure switch has gone open circuit or the wire has come off/got broken. The system knows the engine isn't running and therefore shouldn't have oil pressure hence the warning. My Gal does it if I start the engine when cold, switch off and switch on again before the oil pressure has died away. As soon as the oil pressure has gone the warning disappears. You could prove it by grounding the wire on the oil pressure switch (thats the no pressure condition) and then switch on. Regards - John Quote
buford_t_justice Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I changed the software code for my instrument panel to 15421 using VAG-COM. Previous value was 15401. This allowed for the condition of the oil to be considered even though it is set for fixed distance servicing. Now when I switch the engine on I get the "Oil sensor Workshop" message for about 5 seconds. The oil light flashes as well during this time. The level is okay and was replaced, along with the filter about 2000 miles ago. Anyone have any ideas? My thought was that my Galaxy doesn't have an oil sensor, hence why it wasn't originally programmed into the code but I would like to know all the same. Regards. Quote
