Hi ,

I am seeking urgent advice ...

I purchased a 2002 Galaxy Tdi , at the start of this week, only to discover that the passenger footwell was flooded with water. It was returned to the Ford deale,r which said it was the rear window washer pipe which had come adrift. They fixed this yesterday. After leaving a dehumidifier in the car over night , I was confident that the problem was over ... only to discover that the passenger footwell was again soaking with water. :)

I rang the dealer again and they said they would fix it. The service manager told me that the new Galaxy's do not leak, and ruled out the pollen filter as a cause (said pollen filter could be a possibility in a Focus)

I have the following concerns : :)

The leak seems to be present for some time ... there is a smell of damp from the carpet in the footwell.

Worst case the leak has been there form 2002 ... would this cause damage , to the body , wiring , underlay , carpet etc??

(There are no electronics in the storage space under the seat )

I would appreciate opinions as to whether to accept another attempt to fix this or if to return the car.

Can it be dried out without problems .. smell of damp etc ?

Many thanks for your opinions...

Did it rain overnight? How could the water have got inside? - where did it come from?

Yes , it did rain over night , very heavily ... , so its either the windscreen,

or the rear washer problem which was not fixed properly.

(I was testing the washer during the day)

I really dont know at this stage , but I am wondering if the dealer does find the root cause , can it be dried out with out having problems ?

..or the pollen filter isn't located properly and is allowing water in via the air intake under the bonnet; this has been covered before. If the source of the leak is found, then the interior can be dried successfully so long as sufficient care is taken (which kind of rules out the dealer doing it !)
