GSMGuy Posted February 2, 2005 Author Report Posted February 2, 2005 Andy - hopefully this will make it clearer... http://img128.exs.cx/img128/3527/screenhunter0018kn.jpg To calculate the 1st 2 nnumbers for the recode, just add TOGETHER the required options ie for trip it is 08, for trip and washer fluid it is 12 mine is 13 as I have trip, washer and brake lining wear.. will change it to 15 when I get a min to add seatbelt warning.. buford_t_justice Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I'm just wondering why both your software codes both have a "2" as the third code. I reckon this has to do with the servicing schedule. My code currently is "15401", but yours Mike is "13421" (soon to be 15421) and AndyR75 was "00421". From that hyperlink I posted the other day I believe using "2" means fixed service intervals whilst accounting for oil state and temperature. Mine is set to "0" which means fixed servicing without accounting for oil state and temperature. Regards. Quote
GSMGuy Posted February 3, 2005 Author Report Posted February 3, 2005 Hijacker - does this have anything to do with the large "sensor" on the bottom of the sump? Does it detect oil viscosity or something? Mike Quote
buford_t_justice Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I wish I knew. Seems odd though because am I right in thinking that the Galaxy TDi is only available for fixed distance servicing? If so why take account of the oil condition etc.... Would you agree that the third digit in the instrument code is for the servicing type? Quote
GSMGuy Posted February 4, 2005 Author Report Posted February 4, 2005 I would - just a bit confused as to what that massive thing on the sump is... Only noticed it tonight whilst changing the ATF fluid... Will have a look tomorrow on the old TIS... Lol - Off to bed now m8 - catch ya soon! Mike Quote
Masked Marauder Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 The only thing that I can see on the vehicle schematics that is attached to the oil pan is the oil temperature sender. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Galaxy is set for fixed servicing only, from what I've heard because Ford didn't want to sign up to VW's agreement, cost of new equipment for garages, training of "technicians" etc. So if you can enable the software to do this, because you have VAG-COM, it will probably work OK. Could confuse the next owner when you sell the car though....and if you go to variable servicing, remember to use the correct oil, 506.01 Quote
Guest dbc Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Looking for cost-effective diagnostic equipment...any comments on following software http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7131584667&rd=1 being advertised on Ebay? Quote
mike99 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I know this is an old thread, but, has anyone done any more stuff with reprogrammimg modules on there car to unlock other features?? I tried the one to get the seatbelt warning lamp but it doesn't work. Quote
Jaddi01 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Right here we go... First thing I did was to fit cruise control, and diagnose a faulty glow plug in my aux heater. I won't repeat the details here as I hae posted about them elsewhere in the oforum. Today, however, I have turned on the trip computer function on my Zetec! All you have to do is "recode" the instrument cluster (17) from 01421 to 13421 I have yet to fit the stalk/switch, but now my display gives me the 3 lines instead of the previous 2, although at the moment the trip is showing instantaneous mpg, and I can't change it until I fit the switch, which will be next week hopefully. Mike Hi Mike I hope you are still monitoring this thread! I was wondering about fitting the stalk. Am I right in thinking that if I bought a used stalk with computer controls, this would fit into the existing wiring or would the wiring also need to be changed? I've yet to find a dash replacement too. Anyone know how to transfer the old mileage over to the new set of clocks? thanks Quote
Jayton Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I got this next bit from some Golf GTI owners, it may help people on here and it may not... so to add to this thread: 46 - Central Convenience: -- KWP1281 Only on vehicles with power windows. VAG-COM fine. There are numerous options/ features that can be set. Selective Unlocking: [select][46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)[Recode - 07]Write down the existing coding for future reference.Enter 5-digit code from below[Do It!] Look at the existing Soft. Coding. If you have selective unlocking (press the unlock button on the remote once to open the driver's door, twice to open all the doors) the last digit of your coding should be an even number. To make all doors unlock, add 1 to the coding. So, if you have a 2-door 2002 GTI that is coded for selective unlocking (00064) add one to make it 00065 so that all doors unlock with one press of the unlock button. Lock/Unlock Horn/Flash: [select][46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)[Adaptation - 10]Channel (03..08)Adaptation Value (1 = on, 0 = off)[save] Channel 03 Auto LockChannel 04 Auto UnlockChannel 05 Unlock, horn soundsChannel 06 Lock, horn soundsChannel 07 Unlock, turn signals flashChannel 08 Lock, turn signals flash Quote
Mirez Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 You need to be very carefull there! The Golf's modules and their operating software are different in quite a few ways to the Galaxy ones - adapting the gal's modules using a golfs (or any other VW model for that matter) codes and settings could potentially brick the controller. Jayton Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I done a bit of digging on the forum and the info I found, is that changing channel 03 and 04 to 1's will make the auto lock @ 15kph work and unlock when you pull the keys out. I've not tested the above instructions for the other channels, but I've read on here that some people have the chirp and indicators flash working. Quote

The chirp is done with softcoding on a galaxy but its todo with the market rather then as an 'option', you might possibly find channels 3 and 4 available on a Mk1 but they certainly won't be readable or adaptable on a Mk2 using VagCom - and to reiterate, you really really shouldn't be adapting values using info from another model.;) ;) Quote
