iainkirk Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Don't recall having read this problem on here before, but no doubt it's been addressed somewhere. Galaxy is off the the Fraud dealer on Monday with a hot starting problem. Cranks for about 20 seconds before starting, then runs fine, performance as normal etc etc. It's only just started doing this. Cold (ie next morning) start is 100% as normal - ie immediate. Pumping the accelerator helps it start, which suggests fuel starvation, but runs normally once it's started. I'm currently using BP Ultimate, but haven't had this problem beofre and I normally use this. Any ideas ? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Faulty temperature sensor? Dunno thought - for a diesel I would have thought that there would be little difference in the amount of fuel needed to start a hot or a cold engine. Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Hitting the accelerator will not make any difference to the fuel injecte, as the map will inject the correct amount accoring to inputs like temp etc... on't forget the 115 is rive by wire... Mike Quote
iainkirk Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 Must be some sensor fault or other then. BUT, I've checked again and it doesn't start UNLESS I pump the accelerator, so maybe there's a sensor that says "the human is pumping the accelerator!". I will suggest it's a sensor when I go to the garage, bearing in mind most Ford "technicians" don't know the first thing about Galaxies. Quote
iainkirk Posted January 29, 2005 Author Report Posted January 29, 2005 OK, well Reg Vardy in Motherwell had the car for the day on Monday and couldn't find a fault. No codes. Nothing - apart from the fact that it's still doing it! Any clues anyone??? Quote
johnb80 Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 How about a faulty throttle sensor, i.e. intermittent, the ECU doesn't see the sensor, moving the throttle makes and breaks the connectin leading to an eventual start? Not sure of all the logic in the ECU on these, on the petrol Fords I have seen this sort of problem, especially if they go short circuit the ECU see's it as full throttle and goes into flooded start mode i.e. no injection!
