Guest Russell Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005  Hi, I was wondering if anyone had ever heard/carried out a gearbox swap on a Galaxy. I have a 1.9TD1 (110) 1998 with a trouble plagued auto and I am thinking of swapping to a manual rather than selling an otherwise good car. From a quick look it looks like the pedal box has a hinge waiting for a clutch pedal so I am thinking the rest of the mounting points are there waiting for cables, master cylinders etc in the proper mass production fashion? Any help info much appreciated. Thanks Quote
Andrew T Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 I won't prentend to be any sort of expert on such things, but would the ECU have to replaced or reprogrammed as well ? e.g for the kickdown function . Quote
Guest Russell Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Bugger, if that's true I'd have to use Ford.. I bought a cheap VAGCOM thing but it doesn't work. It came with a serial connection and I only have USB. Bought an adapter to no avail. Does it have two ECU's? One for the box and one for the engine? If so by disconnecting the 'box would the main ecu ignore it? Quote
