Hi All,

Just bought a 2002 TDi Gal yesterday and have a couple of questions !

1) Why does A/C light come on when you turn on the blower fan ?

2) Why are Heated screen lights (front & rear) coming on ramdomly ?

(at least I think they are !) I did read that they shut off automatically after

10/20 minutes , but do they come on by themselves ?

Any info much appreciated as I need to know what needs fixing !

Thanks,

Dan

Climate control or AC ?

IIRC when you hit demist on the CC system it turns on the front screen and the AC to boost the demisting by dehumidifying the air

on AC when you have the control knobs the AC is switched on/off by pressing in the knob, if you dont turn it off it will come on when you turn the fan on and will switch off when the fan goes off as it needs the air flow across the heat exchanger

On the c/c system, as VR6 said, if you select the demist button (shaped like a windscreen) it will turn on the a/c put the fan on max and turn on the heated screens.

If you have manual a/c and a heated front screen.. Which I think you do.. Then turning the direction control to windscreen will turn on the a/c (IF the fan is on) and put the heated fronnt screen into timer mode. If you turn on the fan, with the direction control anywhere else other than screen, you should be able to press the a/c button and turn it off. If you then turn off the fan and put it back on again, it the a/c will stay off - either until you press it again, or put the directional control on windscreen mode..... Phew!!!

HTH
