spaceuk2002 Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 :) Here we go....... y plate 7 seater galaxy tdi with a 2000 radio cassette head unit. In the dash there is a cubby space below the head unit. Questions are go for changer or single disk? Understand the differences of each just what fits easier. Are the wires in place for the changer? Are there any units that use the space below in the dash? Will the wiring for the 2000 unit allow any unit to repace..... :) Basic questions from me not knowing what is available!!!! your help as always appreciated Space  Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 You should be able to put the single disc 6000, or the multi 6006e in there no problem... I could well be selling my 6000 in the next few weeks if you are interested.... Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 6000 isnt a straight replacement for a 2000 unit! ones 1din the others 1.5din, it can be done but you will need a filler plate to fil the gap Quote
Hudd3 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I have an 96 2.3 glx for which I have just purchased a 6006 unit to replace the standard 2006r. Does anyone know (a) if the wiring connections are the same and ( are there any blanking plates to cover the gap created by the 1.5 din Many thanks. Quote
bigdaddy Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Dont know about the connections,,,,but the blanking plate is available at halfords and probably good ice stores Quote
Hudd3 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 Hmmm took the old 2006r unit out today - connections are different and the kit Halfords came up with won't do the conversion. Looks like some research needed - does anyone have a wiring diagram for either the 2006r or the 6006 units and their connections required. Thanks Quote
steve67car Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 no spacer available but i have used a toyota 1/2 din before on other conversions also your old h/u had vw wiring so it is different so a custom lead is required as there isn't one off the shelf :) and that can be done easly with a ford repair lead and a female iso both available for anyone who stocks autoleads stuff :) just forget halfaurds  Quote
marinetek1 Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I've got a similar 98 galaxy challenge - 2007r radio to 6006 6xcd player. Fittings won't connect and Ford Parts department have no advice at all. An autolead website has recommneded that I send them pics of the connectors and fittings and they will advise. fingers crossed!
