Might help if I post in the right place !!!!

This question is for the ever helpful GSM Guy and anyone else with VAG -COM.

Firstly I have tried it on my 1997 Sharan TDI and it will read the engine module (no faults there !!) and the instrument cluster again no faults. However if you go to individual module ie Aux heater....it wont read saying module unable to respond.....any suggestions there.

Secondly I have tried it on my 2001 Sharan TDI (new shape) and it read more modules(being a newer car with more things on it you would expect that ).First fault.....yeah you guessed it Aux heater.......Combustion Air Blower (V6) 16.00 outside specification ???? What does that mean !!!!

Then the other ones were a motion sensor fault and the temperature sensor intermitent...that I did know about.

Lastly, I need to know how to reset my service interval reminder (tried the trip reset routine...works on Mk 1 but not 2.It has a chime and reads sevice now on the trip meter. The only info I have to reset refers to the version where it comes up "oil, insp,ino1,in02" ...mine does none of that.......just tells you service due 1,000 miles etc until "chime" service now !!!!

Any help appreciated...ta very much >>>>>expect many more question as I delve deeper !!!!

Paul, will double check re the service indicator on TIS as soon as I get a mo... Or you can do it yourself Tues lol..

Blower motor... Hmm, maybe it's seized through lack of use???

I'd pull the heater down from under the car - only thing you need to disconnect is the fuel line, you can then take off the front and yop covers and you can see and touch the impellar... Give it a spin, you never know....

Have attached a pic I took when I changed the glow plug if it helps...

The brown thing is the impellar, and you can see the motor below it..

Paul - just found this..

Vehicles with fixed service intervals:

Sharan

[select]

[17 - Instruments]

[Adaptation - 10]

Enter the correct channel from the chart below in "Channel Number"

[Read]

The "Stored Value" is the current value for that channel.

Enter the "New" value of from the chart below.

[Test]

[save]

So, for example, to reset the OIL reminder in a Sharan, save a "New" adaptation value of 00150 to channel 10.

Channel Indicated on Display Contents

"New" Adaptation value to reset

05

OIL Distance which can be reset 00150

06

INSP Time which can be reset 00360

Vehicles with Flexible service interval from MY 1999/2000:

and identically constructed models

The Fixed Service Interval Considers:

Channel Indicated as "Stored Value"

"New" Adaptation value to reset

02

00001 = Service Due 00000

00000 = Service Done

Auxiliary work with Long Life service:

Resetting the value in channel 2 will automatically reset fixed service intervals (15000/30000/12 months)

If conventional engine oil was used, then this is all that needs to be done.

If Long Life oil is used, then adaptation must be done the vehicle according to following table with respect to the oil quality:

Hi you guys

I have found out the hard way :( that the Vag Com does not work properly on pre updated vehicals. I have a 1999 Galaxy 1.9TDI, I also found out, your local VW dealer can check the diagnostics, well some of them as Fraud altered the software for the Galaxy

This must be why the Vag Com does not work properly on the control moduals on a Galaxy.

I wonder if anyone is working on a program for a Galaxy?

I found out as I have a problem with my Aux; heater not working.

I found one of the connections to the fuel pump broken off, this has been repaired but it still did not work because it needs to be reset (I found this out in a previous problem which I think GSMGuy answered Ta!) and my Vag Com wont pick up the control module to reset it.

Also found out through the VW dealer that they can supply the glow plug for the Aux heater for about

Posted

I have now managed to reset my sevice due reminder but when I tried to access the address for my Aux heater again it wouldnt read it,,,,,,somewhat strange as I havent disrupted the plug or anything !!! Ho-hum...I will try again tonite.

I did e-mail Ross Tec about Vag Com only reading two addresses on our 1997 Sharan but the didnt wanna know as I hadnt bought my cable from them.........fair enough I suppose.

I got the Key Pro from Sk Pang also but I havent as yet registered for support (I assume thats what you have to do !?! ). If I had opened the envelope that came with the cable I would have known that LOL.

I have been in contact with Sukkin Pang (real name lol) and he has asked me to try the cabl;e on a non TDI VW.......so my boss's TT will be tested and we will see what happens.

Paul (is it me or is a general "man thing" not to bother to follow or read instructions !!!!????)
