Phil Neal Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Right, i've got a 2000 sharan tdi, beleive it to be a base spec one (cloth seats, not captains, 7 seater), do they all come with ABS as standard? I've not bean able to brake hard enough to test the easy way even on a muddy road it just stopped! i'm sure i read somewhere that they did buy am not convinced! Quote
neilb Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 does a ABS light come on when you turn the ignition (but before engine fires??) Quote
Phil Neal Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 er no. that would probably hint that it hasn't! but the fact that i couldn't get the wheels to lock even when trying would hint that i can cope without  and it's the wifes car anyway Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 You could try phoning VW UK and asking them from the chassis number. If you know what to look for, you could try opening the bonnet and following the brake lines from the servo/master cylinder to see if you can identify the ABS pump/accumulator unit. If it's there, then you have ABS, if it's not there then you don't have ABS. Quote
Topbloke Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 could look in the wheel arch and see if any wires are there and how many, one would be brake pad sensor the other abs sensor Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 AFAIK, all Sharan's,Galaxy's & Alhambras come with abs from about 2000 on, not sure if the defining date is the facelift though... Is yours a pre/;post nose jobb?? Mike Quote
