 does anyone know if its possible to modify a 6000cd unit to Play the audio part of a standalone DVD player? :o

I have tried an FM modulator on all of its available frequencies, and to be blunt,It SUCKS

:D There is so much atmospheric hissing there that I think the guys who make these devices must take heavy sedatives to sleep at night

Does the DVD player have a stereo output, and is there settings on the DVD player for the audio (5.1, Pro logicII, pro logic, Dolby, 2ch stereo) as this can have an effect of the quality, and clarity of the sound, also do you have a CD Changer fitted?

:D MATT,I have found reference to connecting to a dolby AC3 amp,it has a digital out earphone socket, that is also referred to as an optical fibre cable, and an AV out, which is where the fm modulator is plugged in at the moment.

 Yip I have a 6 cd auto-changer in the rear armrest :D

It sounds like this is leading to good news :o

Dave-G,

I think you're gonna struggle if you've got a cd changer fitted. I know that you can buy an aux input device that plugs into the the cd changer socket but this means no cd changer. One or the other I suppose.

that is what i was thinking, although you can buy a unit to switch between the cd and dvd it is not intended for this exact purpose, you could try it, if you want, but another idea was to buy a cassette adapter, put that into the cassette deck, and do it that way, but you would have the trouble of the wire coming out the player, and having to put the tape in and out, also the quality may be degraded slightly. In theory you plan of the FM Modulator should work, but Cleary not? is the frequency of the modulator in the range of the Head units ability? Is it all operating on the same wavelength (FM,AM,MW)? do the wires pass anything that could cause any interference? Eerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm, can't think of much more :(

:( Thanks guys, A friend of mine has a similar problem,he dont got an autochanger,so guess who's gonna try Dally's suggestion first? :)

Incidently,I have again tried to upload jpeg's to my post witout success, should I be allowing something with sp2 security settings?

B) RESULT ! :o

:) The guy who sold me the player sourced a switchable interface to divert the autochanger input to the head unit...the rest is too technerkil for me

:( The autochanger has to be "playing" silently to allow my dvd player to play via the car speakers :)

:o The device also allows another auxilliary to be added to it,making 3 A/V choices through the 3 way switch B)

Apparantly it would'nt work for my mate, because he doesnt have an autochanger, perhaps it is powered through said changer?
