Paul Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Ever since the cold snap we had during chrsitmas, my (115Tdi, 52 Plate) Galaxy's climate control LCD display flashes for 15secs after turning on the ignition. It displays all of the characters then clears to its normal settings and runs ok. :( Am I being warned of an imminent failure? Any ideas? Quote
Andrew T Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Do a search, somewhere there is a list of AC fault codes. IIRC you hold two buttons down to access the codes then use the fan up/down buttons to scroll through them. PM me if you can't find them I've got them stored somewhere. Quote

I had this with mine last winter and this winter, When I plug in VAG COM the fault code for the C.C. is intermittent rear blower.I seem to remember there was no real cure for this problem. But that may not be what is wrong with yours of course. seatkid Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 More usually its the low gas pressure switch. So no, its already failed....check if you still get chilled air! Quote
Guest Idris Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 More usually its the low gas pressure switch. So no, its already failed....check if you still get chilled air! my 99 GhiaX has done this since I bought it over a year ago. It still blows out cold air and seems to work, just that about 33% of the time, it flashes upon ignition. If it is possible to read fault codes on a Mk1, I would be interested in the information if possible. ta Quote

Gadgetoid Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 I double those thanks to Seatkid - these are exactly the instructions the rip-off merchants try to sell you on eBay :) .Unfortunately they do not work on the Climate Control module for my 2002 Gal - and I guess for other facelifted models as well unless someone here knows otherwise. Using the Audiworld 2000 instructions falls at the first fence - the AudiWorld article states that switching Centigrade to Fahrenheit is done by holding down Recirc + TempUp buttons whereas the Fraud manual states that the combination for this function is Auto + Econ buttons simultaneously :) .In practice the Fraud instruction works and the Audiworld does notAs for displaying fault codes, I simply have not been able to make it do so :) - the Audiworld combination doesn't work, and neither does any other combination of simultaneous button pushes that I have tried :( . I presume if it did work on the facelift models we wouldn't be talking about VAG-COM so much :D . Quote
