Check your brake light bulbs! IIRC a flashing glow plug light has been linked to the loss of a brake light or the switch and a failing MAF!

I thought there was a seperate warning for breaklights? and if the glowplug light came on, wouldnt it have something to do with the glowplug?

One of life's little mystery's  a link to duff brake light bulbs, dodgy MAF sensors and flashing glow plug lights has been found by other TDI driver's on this forum and others, no one can explain what the link is and why it occurs?

It is a case of practical experience over logical thinking, one of those "trust me" occasions!

flashing glow plug iirc the handbook says something about engine management warning light?

Definitely check your brake light bulbs. i had both fail at the same time and the glow plug light was flashing, also if you have cruise that wont work either. Ford say that the vehicle wont allow cruise to work if the brake bulbs have failed because it thinks the car cant stop.... weird or what

Hi There,

Does it actually happen after a few miles, or did you only notice it after a few miles?

The reason I ask is that this happens to me if I start the engine up too quickly without letting the glow light go out. I simply stop the car, switch off and more patiently start up again.

Happened in my passat as well.

So, it might be just a querky happening..... but if it is a proper problem, someone tell me.

regards

Must be a VW quirk - don't forget that the Galaxy is a VW in drag (VW designed and built)

It's not the bulbs - it's the switch sticking... The brake light switch is actually 2 seperate switches in one - the 1st simply sontrols the lights and the second is linked to the ecu/cruise, and in the case of my Auto, the selector inhibitor.. I had a fault where 1/2 of the switch was working - it let me move out of Park, but no brake lights - so as soon as I moved off the ecu registered a fault (no cruise either) and lights the lamp.

Cured mine by spraying with WD40 and operating it fully with my fingers to free it off..

They are made by Seat in Portugal

Made by AutoEuropa IIRC, which was originally a joint venture between Ford and VW, until Ford wanted out and sold VW their share. Now owned entirely by VW, there is still an agreement for VW to build the Galaxy there for "a few months more", hence Ford are developing their own replacement vehicle which is likely to be made at a Ford factory in Belgium.
