Fuel Economy For A 2.3i

Hello all!

What kind of fuel economy do drivers of the 2.3i variant get? Are there manual and automatic variants? Around town and 'on a run' would be great!

I have a Ford Scorpio with the same engine in it and I am just doing some research on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

We have a Scorpio 2.3 and around town 25-29 mpg, on a run 35ish. I have to say it's the smoothest 4 potter I've ever driven.

Twin balancer shafts account for the smoothness. It seems a reliable unit too, the only complaint that seems to come up on these pages is of occasional ignition problems.

Official combined figures figures from the Ford Galaxy Brochure are 28.0mpg Manual, 25.7 Auto. I would suggest (for a manual) 30+ mpg on the motorway staying below 80, 33-35 on a restained cross country drive. We live in the country so school run type journeys are in the high 20s but those who live in town have suggested very low 20s.

Thanks guys. What you have told me kind of tells me that either my Scorpio is not very well or that the engine isnt very well suited to that car. My auto does 18-21 round town and 25-31 on runs and motorways..

One thing I have noticed is the throttle body is filthy and I think it needs to come off for a clean! I cleaned it with some carb cleaner initially and I have noticed a slight improvement..

Hi All,

I have got a 2.3 Manual Galaxy and I get 25 to 27 mpg around town and about 30 to 35mpg on a run.

Trevor.

Maybe mine is not too far off then? Other Scorpio owners seem to think the same..
