Guest WOZZA Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 a few months ago my galaxy 110 tdi needed a replacement last two sections of the exhaust. i popped in to my local SDL (SILENCER DISTRIBUTERS LTD) where i orderd a new one, he was given all the details of the vehicle, i paid for the goods and collected them a few days later. as i was leaving i noticed that the silencer box only had 1 pipe. my old one had 2 coming out from it and so has every other tdi volkswaggons, golfs mondeos the lot! they said that it was the correct one. i have lost lots of power. its not the maf or the air filter. does anyone reading this think that they could have posibly supplied me with the wrong (petrol) exhaust insted of the diesel one? could it cause loss of power, having it fitted with the wrong exhaust? Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Wrong exhaust can definitely cause loss of power due to too much restriction. 1 rather than 2 tailpipes won't make any difference - some aftermarket systems are like that. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 That used to happen a lot in the drive in tyre and exhaust place to people who took their Golf GTI's in to have the rear box replaced, drive in with a twin outlet box and drive out with a single outlet box and a lack of power! the loss of an outlet used to cause massive amounts of back pressure and strangle the engine! not sure though if the same would happen on a TDI? here's a picture of the exhaust systems for a 2000 Sharan you can just see that two of them seem to have dual outlets, from the engine numbers that are given for the fitments it seems that are a universal fitment! part nos 4 is for ADY and AAA4a is for AJH4b is for AMY, ADY and AAA http://www.elcats.ru/imaudivw/VAG03654.gif Quote
