Guest Shazza Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I have 1.9 diesel with auto box & occasionally tow a caravan, lately I am getting a vibration & shudder at certain times, It happens when I am doing about 40-45with revs around 1500 -2000,if I ease off the peddal then kick down it goes,it is worse when towing.I think it is somethingn to do with the gearbox.Charlie Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Have you checked the fluid level/condition? it's not an easy job but it is a possible DIY job if your so inclined? there is a post on the topic else where along with a diagram of what bits to undo and where to pour in the new fluid if needed? another thing is to check the condition of the engine/gearbox mounts, you could also check the plug on the auto box ECU, IIRC it's located on the inner wing next to the battery? check for dampness and corrosion of the terminals! and the condition of the wireing loom to the gear box Quote
GSMGuy Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Shazza, I have the same problem with mine - under acceleration, between about 1500-2000 rpm, most noticeable in 4th, but if you put it in "manual" it does it at the same engine speed in all the gears... Wonder if it could be an inner driveshaft joint, as the motor is producing a hell of a lot of torque in that rev range?? Mike Quote
Guest Jonderonde Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Is your galaxy latest model? if so I had exactly the same symtoms. after another 1000 miles i heard a load crack from my nearside front end and vibration was terrible. turned out to be drive shaft broken Quote
