Guest Jessam Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Hello all :D and a Happy New Year, In the past couple of days the underside of my 04 Galaxy tdi sounds like an aeroplane jet engine winding down just after I stop and turn the engine off. I will be taking it to the dealer to getit sorted but does anyone have any ideas of whst it may be. Its noisest just underthe nearside passenger door ust have something to do with the exhaust?Regards Jessam Quote
marinabrid Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 read all about auxillary heater, then you will know about the noise and the trouble this item can cause. doesnt sound like you need a dealer though, its a normal noise to be had. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Don't panic, it is an extra heater designed to help speed up the heating of the cabin. Don't take the car anywhere near a dealer unless you really have to! Quote
Guest Jessam Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Thanks Martin, I managed to find another posting on the subjet as well, just puts my mind at rest first Galaxy and Tdi so its like taking the first born to the doctors everytime they cough. Regards David Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Maybe it's time to have an aux heater topic pasted to the top of the technical section or in the New Member Introductions section :D Quote
seatkid Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 tick.........tick......tick...tick..tick....weeeeeeeeeeeeh! :D Quote
malcolm.dobell Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I don't know whether the sudden outbrake of turbine noise posts relate to the fact that the newer cars seem to be much noisier than the old ones. I had a T reg car and it made the tubine noise, but the '04 model is much louder and it pongs of burnt diesel! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 The newer cars are supposed to be quieter with the "improvements" made to the design over the past few years.... :) Quote
Guest MATT Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I think its fine, you park up against someones BMW and this smug Business Man gets out, turn ignition off, Que Jet Noise, it wipes that smug clean off, Hes thinking Why doesn't mine do that? dam this cr@p, i want a galaxy. :) Quote

Guest MATT Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 a few paraffin fumes can be a babe magnet, oh no, that Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 And another one who asks what the smokes for? "Colin Swan" <colin AT nildram DOT net> wrote in messagenews:9qggs0l3f4juqm42i5qjo324h1904nu59i@4ax.com... I have an 18 month old Seat Alhambra with the 130 TDI PD engine, andvery good it is too. However, a short while after starting, and beforeit is warmed up, it is producing an awful lot of smoke.Odd thing is it appears to be only at idle, and it smells like unburned diesel. It also appears to be coming from a contraption under the left-hand side of the car that has a couple of large pipes to it, and a small exhaust that exits just in front of the rear suspension. Once warmed up it seems fine, and doesn't produce excessive smoke on acceleration, etc. Anyone know what the gubbins under the left of the car is, and whatcould be causing this? Is it something serious, or a minor issue. I will take it to the dealer as it is a lease car and therefore I don't pay for the servicing :-) While I'm at it, does anyone know if you can have the passenger airbag de-activated on these cars? Thanks. Quote
