The near side rear light cluster on my Ally has got water in it.Looks like a fishbowl. Its the cluster on the tailgate, not the pillar itself.

Are these easy to change. If so, any step by step help would be nice.

If it's anything like the Galaxy's rear hatch panel it's held in place by nuts inside the rear hatch, you have to remove the trim panel on the inside of the hatch then undo the nuts and it should pop off? most likely cause of water ingress is a crack in the unit or a leak via the number plate fixings if yours is screwed in place?

how do I get the tailgate internal trim off??

Also, I can get hold of a new cluster for a Sharan easier than from my SEAT dealer. Are they the same, they look it. The VW bloke told me that they are NOT compatible, but I cant see why?

If it's anything like the Galaxy hatch panel then you need to remove the internal pull/grab handle, the one near the lock mech? two screws and it should pop out?

next the upper trim sections around the rear screen need to come off, these are clipped in place and/or held in place by a couple of hidden screws!

on the MK1's there are several screws around the outer edge of the panel, remove these, the panel is clipped to the hatch along the lower edge of the screen, so tilt the panel away from the hatch at the lock end while pushing it up parallel to the hatch, it should pop out of the clips?

on MK2's again remove the upper trim sections as well as the internal grab handle, then there are two screws under the access panels to the rear lights, remove these and as the MK1 tilt and push it up out the clips

to refit the panel remove the clips from the panel and refit them to the hatch, them mount the panel in the clips locate the panel back into place and replace all the screws :)

as for the compatibility of the Sharan rear panel I'm not sure? on the MK1 Galaxy's it's the same panel as on the Sharan, I know that for sure as I have one fitted, it's a better looking unit than the bright red Galaxy version!
