Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Does anyone know where the polen filter is on a Jan 2001 Galaxy TDI? Is it an easy item to change yourself, or best left to a garage? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Behind the central plastic grille between the wipers Easy to change. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 7, 2003 Author Report Posted June 7, 2003 err, it seems on my car, to remove the central panel below the screen, you need to remove both wiper blades to remove the plastice panels that overlap the central panel - since this seems to be secured by screws. I had a brief look yesterday evening - and the other problem is that everything seems covered in grease or a thick layer of dirt! Just touching all the various plastic covers etc resulted in 2 black hands that needed washing-up liquid to clean. Do I really need to remove the wipers to change the filter? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Get a TIS Ivor... Lift bonnet, remove central cover that hides the wiper gubbins and there it is. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 8, 2003 Author Report Posted June 8, 2003 Thanks! I have e-mailed someone who posted that they could supply the TIS CD but no reply yet. Perhaps, SA I, I'll need to examine a current-shape Alhambra, because on the face-lifted Galaxy you definitely need to remove the wipers to remove the 2 end covers that stop the central cover from coming out! Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 9, 2003 Author Report Posted June 9, 2003 Excellent, thanks a lot. I'll try to have a go later in the week when I'm not out somewhere and if it stays dry!Still looking for a TIS CD...... Quote
latrine Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Ivor did you manage to change the pollen filter? was it easy once you had removed thwipers and central grill? I had a go yesterday, but from underneath the wiper linkages, by removing the bulkhead tray - however, this proved to be a complete nightmare! I couldn't get the thing past the wiper motor, something just kept getting stuck and it wouldn't come out!! I've got cuts and graxes to my hands and wrists to prove it - there a a damn view sharp clips and stuff under there! cheers mate Quote

Guest ratherhaveanewone Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Is it an easy item to change yourself Define easy, it you very competent, then probably If you're an occasional dabbler then no, its well awkward. I need to do mine again and I am dreading it ... don't forget a box of elastoplasts before you start You don't need to remove anything to do with the wipers, just the engine covers and the top bulkhead cover !
