Guest foxieh Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Hi, I have a galaxy Aspen 2.0. My temperature guage warning light comes on and flashes continuously. Any ideas why this is? The AA man had no idea what it was and now the main temp guage doesn't work at all. We have been advised not to drive the car but to take it to ford and have the engine mamagement system read. It is like it when the car starts from cold. Please can anybody help? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 The light flashes usually flashes to warn of over heating or lack of coolant! are the sensor wires ok? both the coolant level one and the temperature sensors? IIRC the cables run under the expansion bottle and under the battery tray and are prone to corrosion in the plugs due to the spilt coolant when the bottle is topped up! also if the plugs are full of moisture they could be shorting out giving a faulty reading! as the warning light still works but the gauge doesnt I would think the wiring may be ok but one of the sensors is duff? Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Agreed - first stage is to check coolant level, then the wires to the low-level sensor and the coolant temperature sensor. Even if they look OK, pull them out, give them a good clean and put them back. Then report back with any update on the situation. Quote
