Philwalfc Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Hi, I've got a Ford Galaxy 1.9 TD Zetec. It is a 1999 V Reg.I've had it for two years. It has got a Kenwood KDC MV6521 CD/Radio/MP3 Player fitted. It was already installed when I purchased the car. The problem I have is, the radio recieves all stations when in FM mode, but when I try MW or LW there is hardly any reception when stationary, even less with engine started. I have diconnected the fitted ariel in the rear quarter passenger window to see if that makes a difference, but it has no effect. I can't see another ariel fitted to the car. Has anyone got any ideas please. Thanks Phil Quote
italiastar Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 I believe this is something to do with needing a "box of tricks" to power the aerial amplifier which is built into the car - original units are able to do this but after fit ones don't. I don't think that the "box of tricks" is expensive and you can get it from a car audio supplier - try www.caraudiodirect.com - I've got a Kenwood in my car, an in all honesty don't know if it picks up AM as I only use FM - that's the real question - if you don't want to use AM then I wouldn't worry about it. Philwalfc Posted December 28, 2004 Author Report Posted December 28, 2004 We like to go to football matches, and part of the enjoyment is listening to the football reports on talksport and five live on the way home. So we need AM to work. I'll have look at the box of tricks you suggested. thanks Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 The Galaxy has a aerial amplifier built into the aerial cable, it is powered from the OE head unit, when you stick a non OE head unit in you loose the power supply :D the bit of kit you want is available at all good ICE shops and a few motorist centers Quote
