Guest YrWyddfa Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 From what I understand (which admittedly isn't very much) contaminated MAF sensors can provide a (very) lean fuel input because of underestimated airflow which can lead to bad starts, bad idling, and stalling. I guess he could have tried cleaning it first? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I'm very surprised and pleased <_< surprised that a faulty MAF sensor can stop an engine dead! I have gone through SIX! so far on my TDI, in all case of MAF failure the engine has started and ran with or with out it connected! I have even had a turbo split in half and the engine still started and ran! albeit rather under powered <_< on my VR6 I have ran it for three days with the MAF and the throttle position sensor unplugged and suffered no problems! but I am pleased that it's all sorted and your back up and running from your description of the engine rattling and then dieing I did think it was the timing chains :D but luckily it wasn't :D Quote
