7up Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 when driving home to day i flicked through the radio tuning to find a channel to listen to.But as i did this the radio asked for the code, you gessed it i dont have the code so what can i do.I dont even know if a code was entered by the former owner,do i need to contact fords or does anyone know away round this Quote
Guest martinkerr Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 you can go to ford but it will be a lot cheaper to go 2 your local auto electrican, try searching the net, there must be a web site somewhere telling how to do it martin Quote
Guest clwydian Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 I gather the codes are factory set - and would be included with the ICE manual inside the front cover. I have heard that putting a coded unit in the freezer kills the code - but you would need a big freezer for a galaxy :( Carl Quote
Guest Pete C Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 ......"I have heard that putting a coded unit in the freezer kills the code - but you would need a big freezer for a galaxy" :( :( :( :( :D PS Is that why it's called ICE? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 We've been through this one before. Any Ford dealer should be able to tell you, assuming that you still have the original unit fitted. As to whether or not they charge you for looking up the code on the system, well that's down to good old-fashioned customer service (so don't hold out too much hope that you'll get it for free...) isk Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 7up,did you get your code sorted out? If so, pls let me know how - I "lost " my radio a week after succesfully changing my old battery for a new one from Halfords (radio did work afterwards cos supply was maintained via lighter sockets from another car), unfortunately after 1 week standing idle the "fully charged" battery went completely flat and I lost it. Went to Seat (SMC in Datchet), they supplied the code for free - but it didn't work. Went back to them, an after 2 months wait they gave me another code - didn't work either. When I reqested that they try again, at least to confirm either of the two, they said : We should really charge you for this, and anyway your radio must be broken... So much for the SEAT customer service (SA Intruder, are you reading this?)Then I went to Ford (in Reading), very nice people that would only charge Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Not going to help you much...but I haven't come across any decent dealers, and we run 10 Co cars of mixed breeds. They are all s***e. Your radio is either Grundig or Blaupunkt, depending on year. (VW/Seat fit) The Ford radios (2005/6/7 etc) are made by Visteon in Brazil. Quote
7up Posted July 19, 2003 Author Report Posted July 19, 2003 charged me twenty pounds to get the new code, ;) entered it into radio worked first time Quote
isk Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 At least it worked for you...But I won't try SEAT again that's for sure.To SA intruder: So even if it says on the box "made by Ford in Portugal" and "Model 2007", it could still be Grundig or Blaupunkt made by Visteon in Brazil? Now I'm really lost... :( Quote
Guest dan Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 isk, I've used this chap before (top man !!) drop him an email, if the code he sends you doesn't work you pay nothing.... Radio Code Cheers Dan. Quote
isk Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 My sorry saga has got a happy ending too ! A friend of mine, who works for a Seat dealer in Poland has just supplied me with a code that's working!I'm totally over the moon! :) Thanks Dan and SAI for your input.Shame on SMC Datchet!(and SEAT Britain for not replying to my emails) Quote
