Guest coulje Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004  when the weather and engine is cold, and first starts up till warm there is a load noise from the air intake on the engine, applying some revs gets it to go. I have checked to see if its being generated by anything around the engine, but its definately not external. if I take the cover off the airfilter its even loader, has anyone else had this and is there a fix, Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Not sure about the mondy but the Galaxy has a secondary air injection pump, this adds air to the exhaust gas causing an after burner effect and speeding up the heating of the cat up to it's operating temperature, with the top of the airbox removed you would get an increase of intake noise, is the noise your hearing similar to this noise? if so check the intake hoses for leaks Quote
Guest coulje Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 thank you, but the noise is quite loud and can be heard quite clearly from within the car, its almost like a fog horn ! Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 On the Focus there was a problem with resonence in the inlet manifold, I dont know if the mondy has a similar problem? there is a specific mondy forum mentioned elsewhere on the site you may get a better answer on there IIRC the site is madmoles or something similar?
