3000 miles up now and not a drop of oil used. Why me? Why do I have to be different? :)

I thought these diesels were notorious oil drinkers, from postings I've seen here?

My Gal TDI doesn't use oil, and my 1998 Renault Scenic diesel owned from new also doesn't use oil between services. I put this down to being driven carefully (engine not revved hard especially when cold etc) when new. (Must have been lucky with the Gal as I bought it used; it was privately owned though).

Never noticed any adverse oil comsumption in previous Gal although that was a petrol and only had latest one for 500 miles so far, my car (Gal's the wife's car) is an Alfa 147 and on the inside of windscreen has a disclaimer notice saying that due to Alfa's racing pedigree the engines are highly tuned and oil level needs to be checked every 300 miles and topped up to maximum (even if it is only half way down) this is also a condition in the warrenty, cop out or what it's only a 1.6 hardly F1 :)

1996 Gal TDI and never used a drop between services, always used Mobil 1, and was gentle in the first couple of thousand miles whilst the engine was new. Still get well over 50mpg on a run and 45mpg round town.
