Guest AGC Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I just picked up my new Galaxy on a 54 plate with Sat Nav and DVD entertainment system but no CD changer/player. I went back to the dealer only to find that it does not come with one (or even as an optional etxra) and was told I should have read the small print. Is is possible to fit a CD changer? I have looked at various different links on this site, but as I am a newbie I have no idea what people are talking about. I have found a spare cable with the wiring loom in the boot and have checked a mates Galaxy and that is connected to his CD changer. Is it as easy at that? People also talk about connecting things to the back of the Sat Nav - Great, but how do you get to it without riping the dash to pieces? I appreciate that this question has been asked many times, but I would really appreciate any help that any one can provide. Regards If so, what cost are we looking at? Quote
Guest 53Galaxy Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Does the sat nav unit have cd changer controls? it should be marked on the unit or the instructions will tell you, if so it is just a matter of plugging in the CD changer to the connector in the rear, Ford always pre-wire them, I suppose in the long run it is cheaper for them to put the same wiring in each model rather than different for different specs,The cd unit ford use is a Visteon 2080, I did have one for our old zetec but have just sold it as it wouldn't fit the head unit in our new galaxy (a 6006) Quote

IIRC yes, a CD changer should just plug in, assuming that the other end of the cable is connected to the satnav unit; again IIRC there is a menu option to get it to work. To get to the aux connectors, you will need the 4 keys (or some old coathangers) to slide the unit out from the dash - a 10-second job with the right tools. Good luck. Quote
Dally Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 If it is the factory fit RNS navigation, the visteon unit will not fit/work.This unit is a VW unit and has different connectors. You will need to ensure that the cable lying around in the back cubby hole is the right VW/Audi type and not the ford visteon type. Quote

Dally Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 If you want to fit a sony 6 disc changer to a ford 5000, 6000, 6006 or 4050 head unit, the connects2 adaptor you need is part number AFOS003. If it's the VW RNS4 fatctory fit sat nav, you will need an audi connects2 adaptor which may be part number AADS003 Check the URL below http://www.connects2.com/pdfFiles/c2cat200...;connects2' Quote
