yghiatdi Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Sorry to go on about this but I need to know...I have a 2001 TDI ghia with climate control, will I definately have the extra heater to heat the engine coolant on cold days, The reason I ask is because Ford have my car at the momemt for some warranty work and when I said I dont think the heater is working they kept refering to the rear cabin heater and digital clock (which I dont have) or saying my thermostat is dodgy :o I have read all the links that refer to when and if it should work and the little exhaust etc but I need to be sure that i have one. :o My gal is a normal uk car if that helpscheers ian Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 You have the heater; no digital clock in the roof means no timer to switch it on. It will work automatically when outside temp (measured I believe somewhere under the bonnet) is around 6 deg C or lower, and coolant is cold or cool. If it's not firing up under these conditions, then something is wrong. My TDI Gal is Jan 2001 on an "X", and the aux heater works under the conditions summarised above (and explained at length elsewhere by many others on this forum!) Edited 15-12-2004From posts today (I have been in a long, boring all-day meeting) the criteria are: ambient less than 5 deg C measured by wiper mechanism, and coolant less than 75 deg C) Quote
yghiatdi Posted December 14, 2004 Author Report Posted December 14, 2004 Thanks Ivor, I guess I just needed a sense check, I have read all the other links and found that the heater didnt work even from cold on a freezing morning. I will kick some *ss in the morning.cheers again ian :o Quote
