MrT Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 1. read the manual2. read this forum.3. It's accessed through a slider in the wheel arch lining and you need small hands to reach inside to get to it. Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 The headlight bulb is accessed from the engine bay. Only the sidelight and indicator bulbs are accessed from the wheelarch sliding cover thing! The other threads on this site are really helpful with some actual diagrams. So go and have a look. But............. watch out for this! There are some wire spring clips that you have to undo to release the bulb from the holder. The trouble is that you can't see it with your eyes. So be careful to have a good feel and don't be impatient. Use your logic brain not anger and force  And don't try it within an hour of dusk!!!! All the best, no car I've had ever before has been this fiddly for the headlamp bulbs. But there's no way I'm admitting defeat and getting a dealer to do that for me. Otherwise, next stop is asking the dealer how to check the oil!!! Blatters  Quote
chromedome Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 It's dead easy if you remove the headlight unit, 10 minute job. There are two screws on top of the headlight with plastic caps on, remove these. At the bottom of each side of the headlight is a screw, slacken these off a couple of turns, don't remove them. The headlight then pulls forward giving you pleanty of room to change the bulb. You will need a long star drive screwdriver. Hope this helps. Quote
MrT Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Doesn't removing these screws and replacing them affect the headlight alignment? Quote
chromedome Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Never has done when I've done it. The headlight adjustment is set up by different screws. Quote
Topbloke Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 removing these screws won't affect the aim these screws are for location of the headlamps only Quote
ridway Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 Just changed near side H/L bulb. Yes, I, started when it was going dark. Yes, I didn't read the TIS or manual. The job is an absolute pig. Take heed of the above advice. Rich Quote
chromedome Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 The nearside headlight is the easier one to change as well!!! I've upgraded my bulbs to Philips Vision Plus, great improvement over standard bulbs. Details can be found here http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ And no, I don't work for them ha, ha, ha. Quote
