Whether or not the wiring/connectors is the same is another thing!Anyone know if the Ford unit is a true "double-DIN" size so that 2 DIN "E" units can be fitted, one above the other? The only blanking panel I've seen for fitting your own unit looks much smaller than a DIN slot. Quote
jakey247 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Ivor on old shape galaxy this is going to be mmore difficult than you and ketchup think! while the unit is in principle compatible the galaxy 6000 unit on the newer 2000 onwards models is flat on the front with square corners. where as a 6000e unit from a Fiesta etc is curved with rounded corners, hence not a neat and tidy fit when pushed into place. Added to that to fit one to an early galaxy, requires possibly bypassing of the separate amp if its a 2007 system, and loss of the cubby hole below the radio, and then as this is a double din slot there will be a small air gap. Personally I would avdise against! unless you happy with untidy fit and finish??? On later 2000 on galaxy only the sat nav radio by blaupunkt is a true double din, the 6000 sieres stero is just a fraction under double din size (the one with a sliver radio surround), good eh! All is not lost the black surround as used for the navigation unit is only about a Quote

I shall stick with my 5000RDS until such time as (a) I have some more money and (2) I can get a DAB unit that I like.Well Ketchup, what you gonna do? Personally I'd go for the Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB unit if you want to upgrade. Quote

Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 Early face-lift model has new-shape headlamps, "solid" head restraints and rear bumper painted completely in body colour so you see the rear parking sensors as 4 black circles; later models, from about April 2001 I think, have "see-through" head restraints and the bottom of the lower bumper is left in black plastic, so you don't notice the rear parking sensors.Going to go for the Woodstock unit, then?
