I have Swedish 1.9 Tdi and apart from changing MAF last year it was working without a hitch so far. But after driving through the heavy storm and two feet of water A/C failed and heating to a half of the front screen does not work.

I checked all of the fuses and tried to find a relay board, but surprisingly I could not find it. I have the original manual and recently released Haynes manual, and both of them suggest that all the relays should be above fuse board and partly next to the turbo charger..

NOT in my car!!!

Car manual is even wrong for the fuse board

the op has stated that he has a HAYNES manual for the car! and the HAYNES manual doesnt cover the Mk2 so unless other wise stated we can assume that he has a Mk1? and the fuse panel doesnt fold down to reveal a second layer of relays

the front screen is fed by one fuse and one relay so as you have lost only half the screen we can assume that either the screen element has blown or that the cable feeding that side had fell off? the connections to the screen are on either side of the screen half way up the A post if you pop the trim panel off the top of the dash by the front quarter light you should be able to see the cables and test them for power there instead of removeing the A post cover etc.. the 0 volt connection is above the head lineing above the rear view mirror, accessable via the interior light hole once thats removed! good luck

as for the ac? two foot of water would have drown the compressor! try CPR and give it the kiss of life but I think you maybe a bit later there!

It would certainly help to know the year of the vehicle.

From the information given a MK1 does seem likliest.

Also when you say that your manual shows the wrong fuse and relay layouts, this would lead me to think you have 1998 Galaxy and a manual for the earlier galaxies....the correct manual was not released until late 1998 early 1999.

The 1998 and after, MK1 Galaxys have a redesigned fuse and relay box where the fusebox flips down to reveal the relays behind.....touch of deja vu there.. .

When I say 1998 there is a bit of overlap as some late 1997 galasxys may have the later fusebox and some early 1998 Galaxys may have the earlier one.

Nigels posted link will apply to both the 1998+ Mk1's and the Mk2's with regard to the pictures of the fusebox and first level of relays.
