Guest bayleaf63uk Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 I'm not unusually tall (6'2") but find that however I adjust the height and rake of the steering wheel, I can only see part of the dash display. With the wheel down, I can see the top half of the speedo, with it up I can only see the lower half of the dial. It this vehicle designed to be driven only by people under 5'6"? Martin (PS - having now got hold of an owners manual - which we didn't get with the vehicle - have worked out how seat height adjustment works, which improves visibility of dash, though driving position is not so good) Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 No such problems on later versions. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Have you tried lowering the seat? I'm 6ft tall, like to sit upright and usually have a problem in seeing all dials and lights on car dashboards but no problem with my Jan 2001 Galaxy! - Also, try adjusting the steering wheel in - it moves fore and back as well as up and down. It moves forward and backward too!!!! Ordering the Haynes manual- my Galaxy didnt come with instructions :( Quote
Dally Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I have a similar problem as bayleaf63uk and I don't think it was sorted out in later models (I own a late 2002 model 2.3). If I adjust seat height, rake and reach of steering for optimal comfort, I cannot see the temp and petrol gauges plus the top of the speedo and rev counter are obscured. I have had to compromise between the two!By the way I'm 5' 10''. Quote
Dave-G Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 I'm 6' 0" wi extra long legs...try longer seat anchor bolts with large spacer washers under the seat carrier... As you have probably discovered-if you raise the seat it also cantilevers? forwards so you cant find an ideal position.with the seat jacked up say 3" you can leave the seat in it's low position - which is further rearwards than a higher position..I know this sounds gobbledeegook, but it works Quote
psg225 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I'm 6'3" and have just taken delivery of a new Galaxy 1.9Tdi and just like the previous version I'm unable to see the whole dash board. Although on the 2004 model i can peer over the top of the steering wheel to see the 60/70/80 mph speed limts which is now very important with all these speed cameras on motorways however I cannot view the temperature guage and petrol guage. I guess if i extend the steering wheel to its maximum height, push my seat as far back as it goes i may just be able to see them all but this means that the passenger who sits behind me needs to be rather short in height and bereft of legs. I love driving the Ford Galaxy, this is in fact the 3 new version that ive bought. But I have to admit my pet hate is this visibility on the instrumentation and the blind spot on the drivers side when turning right on islands. Quote
Richmond Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I'm about 6'3" and have the same problem as psg225 (Iam not a name, I'm a string of characters). Mind you, when I lie in bed the top bar of the bed end goes right across the middle of the TV screen, so perhaps it's just me. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Shouldn't be lying in the bed watching TV whilst driving at the same time! I know that the Gal's a big car, but to put the bed in there as well,........ Quote
