EribaTone Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Recently bought 53 Ghia. Wonder wagon! But why is the CD changer left out when the multi media pack is fitted?I'm pretty sure I've found the connector (in the rear wheel area as mentioned in many posts) so is it as simple as it seems to retro fit one?Any advice would be appreciated. Davetheref Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Strange ???? I've got an 03 Ghia that has the multi media (DVD etc) and still has the CD changer. Or do you mean you have Sat Nav as well? ;) ;) Quote
EribaTone Posted December 7, 2004 Author Report Posted December 7, 2004 DavetherefThanks for the reply. No I haven't got sat nav. Just a radio with the single cd slot. (6000cd)I notice the current brochure says no changer when multi media fitted in the options section and was concerned that some circuitry may be used for the multi media which disabled the changer.I've found a small 12 pin connector wrapped in black cloth/tape cable tied to the main wiring loom in the area where the jack is stored. It's gotta be the changer connector hasn't it? Quote
Davetheref Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 My Cd changer is part of the radio in the dash. It has only got a single slot but you can load up to 6 CD's into it. I'm not sure what the connections you have in the boot area are for and maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject. Quote
mawashi77 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 Ford galaxy 2004 Sure that the cable above the rear right box is it for CD changer (green connector)Sure that the end is connected to Head unit 6000cd (green connector)So it is a bus cable for data & audio between them. But what i don't know is, 2 ends only, or other ones. What would you like to do exactly, add the rear cd changer for 6000cd ?Where is located the dvd player you get ? I read also that is is not possible to have Nav+cd changer and DVD+lcd systems.Reasons could be :1 because global supply to hight.2 because place for some parts are the same.3 using same bus connector. But i think you can have 6000cd+cd changer and DVD+lcd systems. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 If you have multimedia with VHS player, it lives in the place where the CD changer is usually fitted - hence for consistency (and to save money) Ford leave out the CD changer irrespective of whether you have VHS or DVD. Sounds like the lead is already fitted, so just check that the head unit will take the other end (is it already plugged in?) then get a changer; should be OK (fingers crossed). Quote
toneinblack Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 just thinking about an add on unit that i fitted to a previous car of mine , the cd changer had 3 leads , a red cable , a white one , and a black coax type cable with like a 7 din pin ( ? ) so the red and white for the sound and the black for the power, Quote
Guest 53Galaxy Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 We had a 02 Zetec with the 6000cd (no multimedia) and I brought a Visteon CD changer (same as Ford supply) and all I had to do was plug it into the cable which is under the rear storage area and it worked straight away. We now have a 53 Ghia with the DVD pack and that has a 6006 cd which takes the 6cd's in the dash. According to Galaxy brochures if the multimedia pack is fitted the car should then be fitted with the 6006 unit instead of the 6000 and boot changer, I still have the CD changer if any one is interested as the 6006 hasn't got changer controls it is no use to us now Quote
Guest 53Galaxy Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Just found this from the Ford website which clarifies what head unit is fitted when multimedia is fitted' it is different for DVD and VHS 'Multimedia rear seat entertainment system (video player) (swivelling front seats and CD autochanger are not available when this is specified. Model 6000N radio/CD player becomes standard)' 'Multimedia rear seat entertainment system (DVD player) (swivelling front seats and rear CD autochanger are not available when this is specified. Model 6006 RDS EON, 6-disc in-dash CD autochanger becomes standard)' Quote
